About the role Inverell Shire Council's Financial Services team is currently seeking applications for the role of Accounts Receivable Officer within our Revenue team. The Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for the management and control our Council's Sundry Debtors and Water billing system, and day to day tasks include but are not limited to: • Process sundry invoices, credit notes and refunds for Council’s Accounts Receivable section. • Prepare and issue of Accounts Receivable statements, monthly. • Prepare and issue commercial waste accounts. • Reconcile sundry Accounts Receivable ledgers – control accounts, refund accounts, accounts to be raised and prepare executive summary of outstanding sundry accounts. • Prepare and issue Councils Water Accounts. • Prepare and issue Water reminder notices. • Prepare and coordinate water meter readings, including monitoring reading progress, investigating anomalies and maintaining accurate records. • Maintain Council's water meter and connection records, ensuring accurate and timely processing of new connections, meter replacements, disconnections. • Reconcile Water Ledgers – control accounts, refund accounts. • Respond to and resolve customer enquiries relating to sundry debtors and water accounts via counter service, telephone, correspondence and other communication channels, maintaining high standards of customer service. • Assist Revenue Coordinator with customer enquiries for rating. • Review all water and sundry debts owed to Council and conduct debt recovery action. • Assist with the printing of Rates notices and Rates reminders as required. • Relieve Customer Service staff and other staff as directed. • Produce and maintain a Procedure Manual for this position. • Other duties compatible with the employee’s skills, competence and training as directed. Remuneration shall range from $1,181.80 to $1,271.86 per week. In addition, other allowances are payable where applicable. Why work for Inverell Shire Council? Examples of qualifications or training that would be advantageous: • NSW Higher School Certificate or equivalent, or NSW School Certificate and satisfactory experience. • NSW Class C Drivers Licence. • Proficiency in the operation and use of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Excel. • Understanding of and demonstrated capacity to deliver good customer service. • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage competing priorities. • Appointment as Justice of the Peace. • Commencement and/ or completion of a course of study in a finance discipline acceptable to the Director Corporate and Community Services.
