Employment Type : Temporary Various Remuneration : 117,745.00 - 147,664.00 Hours Per Week : 38 Requisition ID : CAM29540 WSLHD - JMO - Advanced Trainee - Medical Oncology - Research Where you'll be working Westmead Hospital is a key facility of one of Australia’s largest major he a lth and medical research precincts and is the principal referral ho s pital for Western Sydney Local Health District providi n g district level health services to Parramatta, Holroyd and The Hills Shire LGAs in c luding tertiary and quaternary services to greater Western Sydney, greater metropolitan Sydney, rural NSW and other states. The Westmead He a lth Precinct currently under development is envisaged to be the largest hospital building pro j ect undertaken in Western Sydney and will transform the iconic but ageing Westmead H ospital into an innovative, contemporary, and integrated centre that wi l l continue to deliver high quality healthcare and e x pand the education, health, and research c a pability o f th e area. Westmead Hospital is a leading centre of research, training a nd specialisation in all fields of Medicine and Dentistry, providi n g services in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosur g ery, Kidney and Pancreas transplantation, Cancer Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ne o natal Intensive Care, Trauma, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Critical Care, Aged Care a nd Rehabilitation, Adult Acute Psyc h iatry (networked with the co-located Cumberland Hospital) as well as other specialis e d medical and surgical services. Westmead Hospital is also the principal referral centre for other metropolitan hospitals within the district incl u ding Auburn Hospital, Blacktown a nd Mount Druitt Hospital. Intensive care service in Westmead hospital includes 36 general, and 10 post cardiothoracic surgical ICU beds. General ICU bed numbers have expanded by 50% in early 2020. Cardiothoracic ICU has also recently moved into a newly built ICU pod. Common ICU admissions include complex medical cases such as sepsis, severe respiratory or cardiac failure, complicated bone marrow transplant, and surgical cases including trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, cardiothoracic, ENT, plastic surgery, urology, upper GI, hepatobiliary, and colorectal procedures. What you'll be doing WSLHD - JMO - Advanced Trainee - Medical Oncology - Research This role is principally involved in clinical research projects including clinical trials and translational research in all cancers. The research unit undertakes phase 1,2,3 trials in all cancer types with a recent emphasis on novel immunotherapy agents. Also undertake a number of in-house studies. The role includes the clinical care of patients enrolled on clinical trials, including attending outpatient clinics and treatment clinics There are opportunities to gain more in depth exposure to specific tumour groups e.g melanoma, lung, GU, GI, Gynae as per the needs of the successful candidates. • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia • FRACP Part 1 Completed 2 core years of advanced training in Medical Oncology • Previous experience in Medical oncology & Basic knowledge of the process of undertaking clinical trials in cancer. • Excellent organisational, attention to detail and communication skills (both written and verbal) including the ability to exercise a high level of initiative, tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive, confidential matters • Demonstrated experience in clinical research, as evidenced by contribution in conception and study design, data collection and assembly, manuscript writing, drafting reports & other documents • Experience in co-ordinating the day to day activities of patients and motivating clinical trial staff to achieve optimal results. • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a wide range of people, both internal and external to the University and with professional bodies & experience planning and managing a complex range of work activity for a broad range. • Experience in use of data bases.
