The Opportunity The Australian / Deputy Chief of Security (ACOS) at Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG) is responsible for the maintenance and management of JDFPG facility security through the implementation and application of the Defence Special Undertakings Act 1952 and the provisions of the Protective Security Policy Framework. The ACOS will manage the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Defence and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for the Provision of Protective Services at JDFPG. The successful applicant will fill a challenging and rewarding leadership position within the JDFPG Joint Security Section (JSS) as (primarily) the ACOS and Deputy Chief of JSS. The JSS operates as a joint US/Australian security section with the overall responsibility for security at JDFPG, working in close collaboration with the Australian Federal Police. Please note: This is a Term transfer position. (Shift Work is NOT required in this role) As the Australian/Deputy Chief of Security (ACOS) at JDFPG, you will be responsible: • For the maintenance of JDFPG site security through the implementation and application of the Defence Special Undertakings Act 1952 and the provisions of the Protective Security Policy Framework. • Provide advice, information and guidance in relation to protective security matters relevant to the Australian Signals Directorate, Department of Defence and JDFPG. • Inspire a sense of purpose and direction and maintain a high level of morale within the JSS team. • Lead and drive the delivery and support of services provided by the JSS team, including adherence to and implementation of relevant policies, tasks and projects. • Represent JDGFPG at various forums and meetings as JDFPG’s senior Australian security representative. • Develop and maintain strong networks with JDFPG key stakeholders at local, regional, national and international levels. • Manage the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Defence and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for the provision of Protective Services at JDFPG.
