About this role
The Coordinated Client Support (CCS) Branch manages a range of programs and services to assist vulnerable clients to navigate DVA services and connect to supports to meet their wellbeing needs. Case management offered by CCS Branch is collectively referred to as the Client Support Program (CSP). The EL1 Assistant Director is a key leadership role in the Branch that will lead the ongoing development and implementation of high-quality, veteran-centric case management practice across the CSP. In this role you will lead work to identify, develop and implement governance and reporting systems that support service delivery, including quality assurance, program and data management, and learning and development needs for the Branch. As an EL1 you will exercise a considerable degree of independence and be required to undertake work that is complex or sensitive and operate under broad direction, and during periods of change. You will be engaged in complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and undertake detailed or sensitive work or initiatives that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for DVA. A key role will be engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation. • Manage a blended and geographically dispersed workforce of administrative staff and complex case managers within the CCS Branch to ensure efficient and effective client centric services. This includes providing leadership and encouraging a learning environment through supervision, mentoring and coaching including the provision of training opportunities • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of a nationally consistent service model for DVA clients assessed as requiring additional support services through responsibility for a specific portfolio • Identification, development and implementation of governance systems to support service delivery including but not limited to; case/program reviews, continuous improvement and quality assurance • With the Director, be responsible for the recruitment, selection, supervision, performance management, security and welfare of employees to ensure their ability to meet service delivery requirements • Management and oversight of the processes supporting the client journey including referral and allocation, case review, case closure and associated reporting • Provision of advice, support, consultation and referral information to DVA staff and stakeholders in relation to complex client matters or program related issues • Manage the reporting requirements of the section providing data on operational output at the Branch and Division level • Contribution to executive level briefings on strategic and sensitive client matters • Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including representing the Department in high level discussions and negotiations • Contribute to the strategic direction to the section and Branch, including the development and implementation of business plans, strategies and priorities • Contribute to the Department’s strategic reform and operational business transformation to ensure quick and appropriate responses to a variety of competing priorities and/or vulnerable clients within assigned resources.
