About the Role As a Certification Officer, you'll help support the safe operation of Australia's domestic commercial vessel fleet by assessing applications for vessel and operational permissions under Australia's national maritime legislation. Reporting to the Senior Officer Certification, you'll be part of a high-performing team delivering timely, consistent and customer-focused certification services. The role combines regulatory assessment with stakeholder engagement, requiring you to interpret legislative requirements, review technical information and provide clear advice to industry and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced operational environment. In this role, you will: • Assess and process vessel and operational applications, ensuring they are accurate, complete and meet legislative requirements. • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice, respond to enquiries and support the progression of applications. • Exercise delegated authority to assess and determine low and medium complexity applications. • Review technical documentation, monitor application progress and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement activities. • Support the Certification team through knowledge sharing, administrative coordination and maintaining accurate records.
