About this role

Various sections in the Strategy and Analysis Branch are seeking data analysts to support evidence-based decision making. These sections: • develop and apply analytical and modelling approaches to support evidence-based policy advice across social security and family assistance payments • use integrated administrative, survey, and linked data assets to analyse complex social and economic issues • support the design, costing, and evaluation of policies impacting individuals, families, and vulnerable populations • build data capability across DSS by developing tools, guidance, and accessible analytical products • deliver high-quality reporting, distributional analysis, and ad-hoc insights to inform Government priorities. We are seeking motivated individuals with strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. The role provides an opportunity to build technical capability and policy understanding, while contributing to meaningful policy outcomes. • undertake data analysis to support policy development, program delivery, and evaluation activities • assist in analysing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to social policy and program outcomes • contribute to the preparation of reports, dashboards, and briefing material for internal stakeholders • support the maintenance and improvement of datasets, analytical models, and reporting tools • respond to routine and ad-hoc data requests under guidance • work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to understand business needs and support analytical solutions • communicate analytical findings clearly in written and verbal formats for both technical and non-technical audiences.
