Data & AI Governance Lead

About the Company Our client is a leading government organisation About the Role Reporting to the Head of Data and Security, this role will lead the development and implementation of the organisation's data governance framework, ensuring the effective, compliant, and responsible use of data across the business. Key responsibilities: • Developing and implementing an enterprise-wide Data Governance Framework, aligned with organisational objectives, compliance obligations, and industry best practice. • Establishing and embedding data stewardship, data quality, and data lifecycle management practices to improve organisational data capability and maturity. • Creating and delivering a governance roadmap, including governance forums, working groups, reporting structures, and stakeholder engagement models. • Identifying and managing data-related risks, privacy obligations, regulatory compliance requirements, and data breach response processes. • Partnering with business and technology leaders to drive governance adoption, strengthen accountability, and foster a culture of data ownership across the organisation. About You • Demonstrated experience in Data Governance, Information Governance, or Data Management roles. • Proven success developing and implementing governance frameworks and maturity roadmaps within organisations building or uplifting their governance capability. • Strong knowledge of data quality, stewardship, lifecycle management, risk management, and regulatory compliance. • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills. • Experience operating within a regulated environment. • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data Management, Information Systems, Governance, or a related discipline. Desirable: • Exposure to AI governance, responsible AI practices, or emerging governance frameworks. • Experience delivering governance training and awareness initiatives. • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or similar certification.
