The Strategy, Governance and Capability Branch enables National Archives to deliver its strategic priorities through strong governance, organisational capability and effective stewardship. The branch provides enterprise leadership in strategy, performance, governance, risk, finance, portfolio management, communications and organisational capability, ensuring National Archives is well-positioned to deliver trusted services and value for the Australian community. The Director Corporate Governance, Integrity and Risk leads the delivery of the organisation's governance, integrity, risk and assurance functions, providing strategic leadership and authoritative advice to the Executive and business areas on complex governance and accountability matters. The role is responsible for strengthening organisational capability by driving best-practice governance, promoting a culture of integrity and continuous improvement, and ensuring National Archives meets its legislative, regulatory and public sector obligations. Working across a diverse stakeholder environment, the Director builds productive partnerships, influences strategic outcomes and leads a high-performing team to deliver trusted advice, effective frameworks and high-quality services that support organisational performance and public confidence in National Archives. The role is responsible for: • Providing strategic leadership and direction to a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and delivery of organisational outcomes. • Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance, integrity, risk and assurance frameworks to support effective decision-making and compliance across National Archives. • Delivering authoritative strategic advice to senior leaders on governance, risk and integrity matters, ensuring alignment with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and other Commonwealth legislative and regulatory obligations. • Leading policy development, implementation and oversight across key accountability functions, including integrity, privacy, freedom of information, risk management, fraud and corruption control, and complaints management. • Providing strategic oversight of National Archives’ legal services, legislative reform activities, Comcover insurance arrangements, parliamentary coordination and enterprise governance frameworks. • Supporting and strengthening organisational governance through the provision of high-quality secretariat, advisory and coordination services to key governance bodies, including the National Archives of Australia Advisory Council and Executive Board. • Building and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, representing National Archives in complex and sensitive engagements, and influencing outcomes through collaboration, negotiation and trusted advice. • Driving a positive and inclusive workplace culture by modelling APS Values, Employment Principles and leadership behaviours, while promoting diversity, wellbeing, work health and safety, and contemporary people management practices. • Championing National Archives’ vision, strategic priorities and values, embedding the commitments outlined in Strategy 2025–2030: Evolving National Archives and Our Values across business operations and team performance.
