About this role

We are seeking experienced and motivated Finance Officers to join various teams in our ATO Finance Business line. As a Finance Officer, you will undertake a range of financial management and/or tax technical accounting activities, providing support to business areas and contributing to the delivery of quality financial services. You’ll analyse financial and/or taxation data, identify issues, apply established policies and procedures, and assist in developing practical solutions and process improvements. You will manage your workload effectively, demonstrate sound judgement in line with relevant legislation, policy and procedures, and ensure work is delivered accurately and on time. You’ll work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to achieving business outcomes. You will apply your financial knowledge and analytical skills to build effective working relationships and communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders. We have roles available in various teams: Finance Service Delivery This team are the front door to ATO Finance for financial services. We are experts at understanding our client business priorities, their environment and providing trusted services and advice that support effective and efficient financial management activities. With FSD providing administrative and governance support, our clients can focus on delivering their core business. You will need to understand budget management, financial management processes, forecasts, reconciliations, reporting, banking management, general ledger mapping and accruals. Financial Statements and Policy Services This team is responsible for preparing the ATO’s financial statements and developing and maintaining a robust financial integrity framework. They ensure the ATO’s financial transactions are complete, accurate, transparent, and in accordance with legislative requirements. You will need to understand the financial statement preparation process, preparing monthly financial accounting reporting (including month-end journals and reconciliations) and contributing to financial statements. Corporate Budgeting and Financial Reporting This team manage and facilitate the ATO’s strategic long-term resource allocation to achieve a balanced budget, to support organisational priorities. They provide budgeting, forecasting financial reporting, analysis, and advice to our partners and key ATO Committees. You will need experience in budget processes and allocations, and the ability to gather, analyse and interpret complex information to identify risks, trends and opportunities and support decision-making. Corporate Services, Systems and Tax Management This team provides critical corporate services and enterprise systems that enable the ATO to operate effectively. They manage key finance, payroll, travel, and taxation functions, including accounts payable, official travel, employee pay, GST and PAYG withholding. They also deliver and support core enterprise platforms, including SAP Finance, and lead finance transformation initiatives that enhance organisational capability and efficiency. You will need to understand financial management processes, reconciliations, reporting, general ledger mapping, accruals and finance systems.
