Front End Designer / Developer

About this role

We are seeking a skilled APS6 Front End Designer/Developer to join the Web and Digital Services section. If you’re someone that enjoys good design, appreciates the value of research, is good at talking to people to understand their needs, and you know your way around basic front-end development tasks, we want to hear from you. This role focuses on designing and developing user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing front-end solutions that comply with Australian Government website policy and guidance. You will work collaboratively with senior developers, publishers, content writers, the graphic design and AV teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital experiences, ensuring compliance with government standards. You don’t need to be in Canberra. We’re building the best team we can from across the country. • design and develop responsive, accessible, and user-focused front-end interfaces using modern web technologies • ensure compliance with Australian Government website policy, accessibility standards (WCAG), and usability best practices • collaborate with senior developers, publishers, content writers, graphic designers, and stakeholders to deliver effective and appealing digital solutions • maintain and optimise front-end code for performance, scalability, and security • lead user research and testing tasks in collaboration with content designers • contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support change implementation in a dynamic environment • provide technical advice on front-end design and development trends and emerging technologies and opportunities.
