An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Heritage Officer to join a busy planning team and contribute to the protection and management of heritage assets within a growing local government environment. This is a standalone role offering autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to influence key planning and development outcomes. The Role You will provide specialist heritage advice on a range of planning matters, working closely with internal stakeholders, developers, consultants, government agencies, and the community. The role will involve assessing planning proposals, development applications, and strategic planning initiatives while ensuring heritage considerations are effectively managed. Key Responsibilities • Assess Planning Proposals, Development Applications, SSDAs and Master Plans. • Provide expert advice on heritage legislation, policies and planning frameworks. • Support the delivery of heritage studies, projects and strategic planning initiatives. • Prepare reports, recommendations and stakeholder correspondence. • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders to achieve positive heritage outcomes. About You • Minimum 5 years' experience in Heritage Planning, Heritage Conservation or a related field. • Previous Local Government experience is essential. • Tertiary qualifications in Heritage Conservation, Architecture, Town Planning or a related discipline. • Strong understanding of planning legislation and heritage frameworks. • Proven experience assessing planning proposals and development applications. • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
