The Middle Years curriculum prepares students thoroughly for their Senior Years, where they have the opportunity to select from a wide array of electives. This allows them to specialise in areas that align with their interests and passions, including the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Vocational Education and Training (VET), and Victorian Certificate of Education Vocation Major (VCE VM). Our school also has partnerships with both Latrobe University and Melbourne University, enabling students to complete university-level subjects while in Year 12. For gifted and talented students, Mill Park Secondary College provides a Select Entry Accelerated Learning (SEAL) Program that commences in Year 7 and continues throughout secondary schooling. This program caters to students known for their accelerated learning abilities and capacity for exceptionally high standards of performance. We offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities in areas such as leadership, performing arts, music, sports, and various clubs to enrich the overall educational experience of our students. Selection Criteria • SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the implementation of school priorities, and the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum. • SC2 Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs. Demonstrated ability to support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth. • SC3 Demonstrated exemplary ability to monitor and assess student learning at a class, cohort or whole-school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to support others in using data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents. • SC4 Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader school community focused on student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement. • SC5 Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support colleagues to adopt these behaviours and attitudes. Demonstrated ability to reflect upon their own, others and whole-school practice and contribute to the provision of whole-school professional learning. • SC6: Demonstrated capacity to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework that strengthens student engagement, wellbeing, attendance and inclusion through evidence-informed Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 practices. Role The Learning Specialist - Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): Engagement and Wellbeing (Middel Years) will provide strategic leadership to strengthen the college's whole-school approach to student engagement, wellbeing and inclusion through the implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework. Working collaboratively with the Engagement Team, Wellbeing Team, and external agencies, the successful applicant will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 wellbeing and engagement supports across the Middle Years Campus. The role will ensure that clear systems and processes are in place to enable the early identification of students requiring additional support through the effective use of student data. The Learning Specialist will work to ensure interventions are targeted, coordinated, monitored and evaluated to maximise student engagement, attendance, wellbeing and educational outcomes. The Learning Specialist will support the ensure a proactive, preventative model of student support by embedding consistent systems, strengthening staff capability and ensuring interventions are responsive to student need. Responsibilities The key responsibilities of the Learning Specialist - Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): Engagement and Wellbeing (Middle Years) may include, but are not limited to: • Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the college's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework for engagement and wellbeing across the Middle Years Campus. • Developing and maintaining a clearly documented continuum of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 engagement and wellbeing interventions, ensuring staff understand referral pathways, eligibility criteria and intervention processes. • Working with leadership and staff to strengthen universal (Tier 1) practices that promote positive student engagement, attendance, belonging and wellbeing. • Establishing systems that enable the early identification of students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention through the use of attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, engagement and academic data. • Leading regular data reviews to identify emerging trends and students requiring additional support, ensuring timely intervention. • Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of interventions using student outcome data and recommending adjustments where required. • Working collaboratively with Year Level Coordinators, the Wellbeing Team, Inclusion Team and classroom teachers to coordinate targeted supports for students requiring additional intervention. • Building staff capability through professional learning, coaching and collaborative problem-solving in the implementation of MTSS practices and engagement strategies. • Supporting the collection, analysis and presentation of engagement and wellbeing data to inform school improvement planning and strategic decision making. • Ensuring that the college is managing risk in line with Department requirements, and that an organisational culture of child safety is being strengthened and embedded at all times. • Providing visible and supportive leadership to the school community at all times, in line with the values of both Mill Park Secondary College and the Department of Education. • Any other duties as required by the Principal.
