The Role The Learning and Development Officer contributes to the design and development of Air Mobility Group (AMG) training capability. Under limited direction, you will apply established instructional design principles to support the analysis, design, development and evaluation of learning and development activities, including contributing to curricula for AMG aircraft platforms. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather information on aviation and maintenance training requirements, and assist in the development and continuous improvement of learning solutions to meet capability needs. You will provide input to curriculum development and support the implementation of training programs in accordance with Defence learning policies and procedures. In this role, you will assist in the development and maintenance of supporting systems, processes, and documentation, while ensuring compliance with the Defence Systems Approach to Defence Learning. You will contribute to governance activities, including monitoring and reporting on training outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to the achievement of work plans and section objectives. You will provide guidance and practical support to team members on task completion, and identify opportunities to enhance capability through on-the-job learning. You will exercise sound judgement in prioritising tasks and managing competing demands within defined parameters. About our Team The Air Mobility Group (AMG) plans and delivers air mobility operations that support Defence force projection in Australia and globally. AMG squadrons are located at RAAF Bases Richmond and Amberley, and Defence Establishment Fairbairn, and operate daily across a wide range of missions. AMG personnel are often among the first to respond in times of crisis, deploying Defence capabilities where they are needed most. In this role, you will work as part of an integrated Learning and Development team made up of ADF members, APS staff and contractors. The team supports the development and delivery of training programs that ensure the AMG workforce has the skills and knowledge required to meet operational needs. You will contribute to the design and development of effective and efficient ‘fit for purpose’ learning/training continuum to ensure AMG workforce is appropriately trained to meet Air Mobility capability requirements. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will demonstrate sound technical capability and the ability to operate with limited direction to deliver learning and development outcomes within a complex aviation environment. They will apply initiative and judgement in the development, coordination and delivery of learning solutions across multiple aircraft platforms, supporting an integrated and geographically dispersed workforce. The successful applicant will contribute to the achievement of team and organisational objectives by managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes within established frameworks. The candidate will possess well-developed written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling effective collaboration across internal and external stakeholders. They will build productive working relationships and contribute positively to a cohesive team environment. They will demonstrate accountability, integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement, actively seeking to enhance their professional capability and contribute to improvements in learning and development practices. Proficiency in the use of relevant Defence information systems and standard office applications is required to support the development and delivery of learning products.
