• Rare opportunity to join Council's library services team and b e mentored by our experienced Library Coordinator • Use your exceptional customer service skills to promote library services to the community • Salary commencing from $1,166.74 per week for 35 hour week plus 5 weeks annual leave About the role: Walgett Shire Council is looking for a friendly and helpful Library Assistant to work permanent full-time (35 hour/week) at the Walgett Library. This position is an ideal entry point for someone motivated by improving community access to information and education resources.Previous experience working in a library would be useful but is not essential as we will train you. The position reports directly to the Library Coordinator and is responsible for updating and maintaining library records, processing loans, and ensuring library resources are rotated on a regular basis.You will also read to visiting students, update the library’s notice boards, create special library displays and provide general information to the community. The successful applicant will bring to this position: • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Solid computer literacy • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team • High quality customer service • Demonstrated proof of completion of Year 10 or equivalent • A class C drivers’ licence • A Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) • A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) At Walgett Shire Council, we understand that not every candidate will meet every criterion, and that is perfectly fine—your passion and potential matter most to us.
