The Role The Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) is seeking an APS 6 Logistic Sustainment Manager to work in our Asset Management Units. Your work within the team, delivering integrated logistic support, will directly support the Air Mobility Group within the Royal Australian Air Force achieve their objectives. You will work on a range of sustainment activities, providing governance and assurance in support of aircraft and associated systems. You will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Australian Public Servants, Australian Defence Force members, Contractors and our Industry Partners. As the Logistics Support Manager, you will be: • Accountable for developing and implementing integrated logistics management strategies and plans to support the effective sustainment and disposal of materiel across its lifecycle. • Able to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, frameworks and strategies to support Defence materiel logistics planning and decision-making. • Review documents and plans delivered by Industry Partners to assess compliance against contractual requirements. • Analyse Industry Partner contractual performance against key logistic requirements. • Manage logistics-related risks through proactive planning, implementation of controls, and ongoing monitoring to ensure operational continuity and compliance. • Foster collaborative partnerships with stakeholders and subject matter experts to provide logistics advice, resolve complex issues and support informed decision-making. • Prepare and deliver high-quality written briefs, reports and presentations that clearly communicate objectives, recommendations and outcomes for consideration by senior decision-makers. About our Team The Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) at RAAF Base Richmond is a Business Unit within the Airlift and Tanker Systems branch of the Aerospace Systems Division. ALSPO is the in-service support agency responsible for sustaining and enhancing the RAAF’s fleet of aircrafts. ALSPO, in partnership with industry, exists to support Air Mobility Group achieve its mission by providing effective sustainment support solutions. Our logistics team operates in a dynamic environment, partnering with contracting, procurement and technical specialists, project stakeholders and end users to deliver sustainable Defence capability. Collaboration is central to our success, and team members work closely across disciplines to respond to evolving requirements, solve complex challenges and achieve outcomes that support Defence capability, safety and operational effectiveness. Located in Greater Western Sydney at RAAF Base Richmond, an hour west of Sydney, the Base has an employee accessible gym, tennis and squash court, pool and cinema. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is a motivated and adaptable logistics professional with experience supporting complex logistics and sustainment activities. They are organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities while delivering quality outcomes in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will have strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively across teams to resolve logistics issues, provide practical advice and support business objectives. They will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to tailor information to suit a range of audiences. They will have experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), logistics management systems and end-to-end logistics functions, including procurement, inventory management, distribution and sustainment. A sound understanding of relevant legislation, policy and procedures is essential, together with the ability to apply these frameworks to support informed decision-making. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgement, initiative and accountability, applying a risk-based approach to achieving outcomes. They will possess strong analytical skills, business acumen and a commitment to continuous improvement.
