NSW Health Pathology are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the team on a permanent full time basis. What you'll be doing The incumbent will be an integral part of the Scientific Training and Development team and be responsible for assisting with the training, assessments and competencies of Scientific and Technical staff within NSWHP- South West Sydney area. The incumbent will travel across sites in the South West Sydney which includes Liverpool, Campbelltown, Bankstown, Bowral and Fairfield Hospitals and carry out Pathology laboratory staff training, performance development and competency assessments. The Pre-Analytical Area Trainer will be Pathology discipline expert in Specimen Reception and will facilitate continuing professional development for other staff within that discipline. Trainers will need to also assist in routine laboratory work to understand workflow and maintain their knowledge. This is a shift worker position, required to participate in 24/7 roster. Apply now by addressing the following questions: • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a Pre-Analytical Laboratory, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems, with demonstrated experience in training and competency • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations • Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff • Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment • Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities • Current NSW C‐Class driver's licence (P1 or P2 accepted) is required. Interstate C‐Class licence holders must obtain an NSW C‐Class licence within three months of appointment. Learner licences are not accepted. With willingness to work across all sites within NSW Health Pathology South West Sydney area as required.
