About this role

The Role The Platform Urgent Defect (URDEF) Manager will provide technical marine support to Navy Vessels operating in Northern Australian waters when URDEFs are reported. The role will involve stakeholder engagement with internal and external suppliers, Industry, ADF and Commonwealth personnel. The Platform URDEF Manager will investigate, report and perform technical marine support and assessments in line with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks in line with technical delegation that are associated with the position. The Platform URDEF Manager will work independently within an integrated workforce with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability to achieve the outcomes of their work in support of Defence’s mission and policy requirement. The role does come with outside business hours and weekend responsibilities on a rotational basis. The position is on-site and based at the Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, Darwin Northern Territory. About our Team Maritime Systems Division (MSD) operates within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group delivering in-service support to Navy and Army along with delivering new capability to Government. MSD is embarking on transformational change to establish the Maritime Sustainment Model and ensure the organisation is able to respond to emerging demands and strategic priorities. The Regional Maintenance Centre-North team sits within MSD and delivers maintenance to Naval Vessels home ported in Darwin NT and other visiting Navy vessels from interstate.
