About this role

The Role The EL 1 Recruiting Development Project Officer role is specifically focused on improvement of Recruiting Delivery performance through the strategic initiatives program. The role primarily leads initiatives to increase recruiting throughput and candidate care, within the remit of Recruiting Delivery. This may involve research, project development and timeframes, proposing changes to policy and procedure, identifying areas of risk and opportunity, and contributing to projects to make operational changes. A key priority of this position is the development of a recruitment pathway to support the enlistment of Papua New Guinea citizens into the ADF. Further examples of the types of work associated with the Directorate of Strategic Initiatives include scoping the merit of accelerated recruiting trials for some cohorts; implementation of a new Defence Health Manual related to recruiting (specifically role function and support banding); the use of data within the organisation; governance review; the fast-tracking of space and cyber targets; and the viability of extending Permanent Recruiting schemes to other nations and contexts. About our Team Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) is a collaboration between the Department of Defence (Defence) and Capability Partner Adecco to recruit suitable candidates to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Blending personnel from the ADF, Australian Public Service (APS), Contractors to Defence and the Recruiting Service Provider (Adecco - and its sub-contracted partners), DFR develops and delivers strategies to attract potential candidates for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force and to support them through the recruitment process to enlistment or appointment. The EL 1 Recruiting Development Project Officer is a position within the Directorate of Strategic Initiatives. The Directorate of Strategic Initiatives is a team of four personnel, within the broader Headquarters Defence Force Recruiting, which leads the design, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives prior to their integration into standard recruitment processes. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will demonstrate proven experience in project management, coupled with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. They will possess the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, exercising sound judgement and professionalism in all interactions. The successful applicant will be flexible and adaptable, capable of operating both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively operate in a complex and uncertain environment, adapt to evolving priorities, and independently develop products and outcomes from conception to completion. They will be confident in preparing and delivering briefings to senior personnel, with a strong ability to articulate risks, opportunities, and strategic considerations clearly and concisely.
