Come for the Lifestyle Where you’ll be working Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. What you'll be doing Senior Registrar of Upper Gastro Intestinal (GI) and General Surgery will work with three Upper GI surgeons to provide tertiary level Upper GI district wide services including pancreatic, hepatic and oesophagogastric resections for cancer. Responsible for the provision of independent and effective medical care of surgical patients under the supervision of specialist staff, the Surgical Senior Registrar will undertake emergency surgery and inpatient and outpatient surgical consultations including in the Emergency Department. Additionally the Senior Registrar would generally have a right of private practice. • MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia. • Minimum five years post graduate experience with previous experience in General Surgery.
