Our team Geoscience Australia is undertaking an Organisational Transformation Program (the Program) to design and implement operating model changes to ensure that the organisation remains fit-for-purpose into the future. The Program will undertake organisational design and incorporate recommendations from internally initiated reviews and audits. The Program will align activities into cohesive, achievable workstreams that will allow us to deliver effective long-term change. The Program will uplift key areas to improve our performance, resilience and impact and ensure that the organisation can continue to successfully deliver into the future. The Transformation Office is responsible for planning, coordinating, delivery, monitoring and reporting of the program of work. In particular, the Transformation Office ensures that work is effectively defined and sequenced, risks, issues and dependencies are managed, change and communication activities are effective and that benefits are defined and measured. The role As part of Geoscience Australia’s human centred design capability, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to lead service design activities to improve processes and services. The role uses a practical mix of service design, user research, business analysis, Lean and UX approaches to improve service outcomes and build organisational capability. We’re looking for someone pragmatic who can apply these methods in a flexible way to solve problems and deliver meaningful improvements, not a rigid or purely theoretical approach. In this role you will: • Lead and deliver end-to-end service design activities across transformation and IT initiatives • Plan and run workshops and stakeholder engagement to explore problems and agree on solutions • Plan, conduct and synthesise user research to inform design and decision-making • Develop service design outputs (e.g. journeys, blueprints) • Apply UX/UI design approaches to design and test concepts and improve user experience • Analyse current and future state services to identify practical improvements • Apply Lean, structured analysis and human-centred design approaches tailored to each problem context • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation • Work collaboratively across teams to support integrated delivery and achieve outcomes • Provide guidance to others and contribute to building service design capability across the organisation To be successful in the role you will: • Work in a collaborative, pragmatic and adaptive way, contributing to a high-performing team • Choose and apply service design approaches appropriate for different problem contexts. Show sound judgement, initiative, and the ability to plan and deliver work end-to-end • Communicate clearly and influence stakeholders at different levels • Build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups • Adapt to changing environments and priorities • Be flexible, resilient and innovative • Be a continuous learner • Work effectively across multiple workstreams or transformation projects Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications: • Multi-year experience in service design, user research and/or UX/UI • Demonstrated work experience delivering service design across complex or large-scale initiatives • Demonstrated work experience in user research and/or UX/UI design in an organisation delivering products and/or digital services • Demonstrated work experience working effectively in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams • Demonstrated ability to apply a pragmatic approach to apply Lean, Service Design and business analysis techniques • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and deliver work end-to-end within agreed constraints • Demonstrated ability to translate user and business needs into clear requirements, user stories and specifications Are you unsure about applying?
