*** Services Australia maintain offices in remote areas all over Australia. This temporary register seeks your interest in being considered for Service Officer roles for non-ongoing, temporary opportunities in some of our most remote offices listed under section 8 of the job pack. If successful, you will be expected to live and work from the remote location. Accommodation is not provided with this role. You will be required to source your own accommodation. It is important to be aware accommodation is limited in most remote locations. *** We are seeking motivated people to join our team as Service Officers and become the face of Australian Government services within the community. These roles have a strong involvement in issues relating to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and will involve direct interaction with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities. Working within the Customer Service Delivery Group, as a new Service Officer, you are not expected to know everything at once. You will learn to understand and explain Centrelink, Medicare or Child Support payments and services to customers when they come into your local Service Centre. Working with us, you will be helping your community when they need to access government services. To do this, we will train and support you. As a Service Officer, you will: • Assist customers across a range of payments, programs and services and work across one or more service delivery channels (telephone, face-to-face or processing). • Assess customer and stakeholder needs and encourage the use of self-service or digital service options. • Deliver integrated and connected services to meet customer needs. • These roles require you to work on-site in an office environment (no flexibility for the role to be performed virtually or from a different location). Key duties • Help someone understand and self-manage their payments and services. • Use computer systems to find a way to solve a problem for someone. • Make decisions and tell people about them. • Tell someone about any complaints or issues.
