Job Description The Security Policy Officer leads the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of enterprise security policies across physical, personnel, information and cyber security domains. Operating in a highly regulated Defence Industry environment, the role supports enterprise security risk management, compliance monitoring and assurance activities. The position provides authoritative advice to senior leaders and contributes to executive and board‐level oversight of security risk and compliance. Duties and Responsibilities • Design and write enterprise security policies from the ground up, identifying gaps and associated risks • Translate legislative, regulatory and DISP requirements into clear, practical policies and procedures • Lead consultation with business units to ensure policies are fit-for-purpose and understood across the organisation • Assess policy coverage against evolving threats, compliance obligations and Defence requirements • Maintain policy frameworks, control mappings and alignment to regulatory standards • Provide expert policy advice to senior stakeholders and delivery teams • Support audits by preparing documentation, addressing findings and guiding remediation • Contribute to risk assessments, advising on policy gaps and risk treatment approaches • Deliver internal training to uplift understanding of security policy obligations • Prepare high‐quality briefs, executive papers and board reports Knowledge/Skills required Essential • Proven experience writing and designing security policies • Background in Defence, intelligence, national security or highly regulated environments • Strong knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks and legislative requirements • Ability to translate complex compliance requirements into clear, business-friendly policy • Experience identifying policy gaps and designing controls to mitigate risk • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with ability to consult across technical and non-technical teams • High-quality written communication, including policy drafting and executive-level content • Experience supporting audit and compliance activities Highly desirable • Experience within Defence Industry and DISP environments Benefits • 14% superannuation • 6 week paid annual leave • Free car parking • Paid parental, compassionate, defence reserve & voluntary emergency services leave • Employee assistance and wellbeing programs • Health insurance for defence supporters and their families • Opportunities for professional growth and development Diversity and Inclusion The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and supports diversity across its workforce.
