Role Title Principal Cyber Advisor Location Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Working Arrangement Onsite Clearance required Current TSPV Security Clearance (mandatory) Company overview The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency within the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government. Successful candidates will be required to complete ASD's Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement. Job Description Our client is seeking two Principal Cyber Advisors (EL2 equivalent) to provide expert ICT security advice and assistance across government. This role will focus on cyber security policy development, cyber risk management, secure architecture guidance, security assessments and accreditation activities. The successful candidates will work closely with architecture and engineering teams to ensure cyber security controls are embedded throughout solution design and implementation, while maintaining alignment with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential Eight maturity requirements. Initial contract duration is 12 months, with two additional extension options of 12 months each. Duties and Responsibilities • Conduct reviews and provide input into the development of the organisation's security suite. • Provide expert advice on secure by design architecture principles and cyber security best practice. • Review ICT solution designs for alignment with the ISM and Essential Eight maturity requirements. • Support architecture and engineering teams to embed cyber security controls into solution designs. • Conduct cyber security assessments and risk assessments across services. • Review and update system security documentation, including: • System Risk Management Plans (SRMPs) • System Security Plans (SSPs) and SSP Annexes • Incident Response Plans (IRPs) • Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs) • Support system accreditation activities and IRAP-related documentation. • Analyse network architectures and assess cyber security risks. • Provide strategic cyber security guidance to stakeholders across complex environments. Education/Certifications required • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Information Security or a related discipline are highly desirable. Knowledge/Skills required • Demonstrated experience working within an Australian Government agency in a cyber security or security architecture role. • Extensive experience conducting cyber security risk assessments and producing security artefacts required for system authorisation. • Strong understanding of networking infrastructure. • Ability to analyse network architectures and assess cyber security risks. • Extensive experience providing information assurance and security governance advice. • Strong knowledge of accreditation processes, information security frameworks and cyber security standards. • Experience supporting complex information systems through security assessment and authorisation activities. • Ability to provide expert advice on vulnerability management, cyber risk and security architecture.
