Job Description An opportunity exists for a Principal Security Analyst Cyber Advisor to provide ICT security advice and assistance within a government environment. The role focuses on cyber security risk assessments, system security plans, accreditation activities, compliance assurance, and security governance. The successful candidate will work closely with nominated AFP personnel to support the security and accreditation of government systems while ensuring alignment with relevant government security frameworks and obligations. Duties and Responsibilities • Conduct cyber security risk assessments and develop system security plans aligned with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). • Perform certification and accreditation activities for government systems. • Analyse vulnerabilities, threats and security controls to determine residual risk. • Develop and maintain accreditation documentation, including risk assessments, security plans and compliance evidence. • Support audits, IRAP assessments and security reviews. • Maintain current technical knowledge and industry awareness through ongoing professional development. • Establish and maintain effective business relationships and professional networks. • Contribute to and implement improved ICT practices and procedures. • Provide mentoring, coaching and training to team members and stakeholders. • Work effectively within a small team and broader organisational environment. • Ensure accurate and timely completion of work in line with quality requirements. • Guide and mentor less experienced personnel. • Maintain records and documentation in accordance with organisational requirements. Knowledge/Skills required • Security architecture and secure-by-design principles. • Network security and enterprise infrastructure security. • Cyber threat and risk assessment. • Security monitoring and SIEM technologies. • Cyber governance, compliance and assurance. • Experience conducting cyber security risk assessments. • Experience developing accreditation and compliance documentation. • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. • Leadership, mentoring and coaching capability. • Ability to operate effectively within government security frameworks including ISM and PSPF.
