Company Overview Our client, Services Australia, is seeking an experienced SAS Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance critical analytics platforms that underpin the delivery of essential government services. This role offers the opportunity to work within a complex enterprise environment, supporting data-driven decision-making through the administration and optimisation of SAS infrastructure platforms. As part of a highly skilled technical team, you will contribute to the reliability, performance and security of SAS environments while supporting modern analytics capabilities across the organisation. Job Description We are seeking a senior Infrastructure Engineer (EL1 equivalent) with strong experience administering SAS platforms in enterprise environments. You will play a key role in supporting, maintaining and enhancing SAS infrastructure services, including SAS Viya and SAS Visual Analytics environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical specialist who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, driving system improvements and ensuring the availability and performance of mission-critical analytics platforms. The initial engagement is for 12 months with extension options available for up to an additional 24 months. Duties and Responsibilities • Provide administration, support and maintenance of SAS environments, including SAS VEA and SAS Viya. • Monitor platform health, performance and availability across enterprise infrastructure. • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application and system issues. • Support incident, problem and change management processes. • Plan, test and implement patching activities and system upgrades. • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing and continuous improvement initiatives. • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support artefacts. • Implement and maintain infrastructure automation through scripting and tooling where appropriate. • Support infrastructure enhancements and contribute to future platform design activities. • Collaborate with stakeholders, technical teams and vendors to ensure service delivery objectives are achieved. • Monitor infrastructure capacity and performance, providing recommendations for optimisation and growth. • Ensure systems remain compliant with security, operational and regulatory requirements. Education/Certifications Required • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline are highly regarded. • Industry certifications relating to Linux, cloud infrastructure, SAS administration, automation or enterprise platforms will be advantageous. Knowledge/Skills Required Essential • Demonstrated experience supporting and administering SAS platforms, including SAS Viya and SAS Visual Analytics environments. • Strong capability in infrastructure operations, maintenance and lifecycle management. • Experience managing platform availability and contributing to disaster recovery planning and testing. • Proven ability to monitor and manage infrastructure capacity, performance and service reliability. • Experience investigating and resolving complex incidents and root-cause problems. • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure environments including virtualised, physical and cloud-based platforms. • Experience implementing infrastructure changes, upgrades and maintenance activities. • Ability to develop and maintain scripts to automate operational and deployment processes. • Strong understanding of systems design principles and infrastructure architecture. • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and documentation skills. • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities. Highly Desirable • Experience working within Australian Government environments. • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements within regulated environments. • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, automation and configuration management tools. • Experience supporting large-scale analytics or data platforms.
