Job Description An exciting opportunity exists for a Software Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex technology solutions across major government programs. Working at the intersection of software development, infrastructure and operations, you will play a key role in enabling efficient, secure and reliable software delivery. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to design, build and maintain automation capabilities, streamline deployment processes and support mission-critical environments throughout the software lifecycle. This role is ideal for engineers with a strong DevOps mindset who enjoy solving complex technical challenges and working across both development and operational environments. Duties and Responsibilities • Design, build and maintain automation solutions to support software build, test and deployment activities. • Develop and manage deployment pipelines across development and operational environments. • Collaborate with software engineers, infrastructure specialists and system administrators to support continuous delivery practices. • Maintain and support applications and platforms throughout their operational lifecycle. • Manage BAU support activities, including incident management, service requests and system maintenance. • Implement proactive monitoring and performance optimisation practices. • Embed security principles throughout the development and deployment lifecycle. • Design and document technical architectures using best-practice frameworks and patterns. • Deliver containerisation and orchestration solutions to support scalable deployments. • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives and deliverables. Education / Certifications Required • Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline are desirable. • Relevant cloud, DevOps or automation certifications are highly regarded. Knowledge / Skills Required • Strong experience with Continuous Integration (CI) practices and associated toolsets. • Experience implementing Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines and automation solutions. • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible. • Strong understanding of configuration and source code management practices. • Experience working with public or private cloud platforms. • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, preferably within RHEL environments. • Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies. • Understanding of software development practices and application deployment processes. • Ability to support and modernise environments containing legacy technologies. • Experience developing in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or .NET. • Experience working within secure development environments. • Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) technologies is highly regarded. • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer or Platform Engineering role.
