Supervisor / Estimator

About the Opportunity Are you an experienced Trade Supervisor or Estimator looking to take your career to the next level within a Queensland State Government Department. As a Trade Supervisor / Estimator, you will bridge the gap between office estimates and field delivery. You will oversee maintenance contracts, prepare accurate project estimates, deliver building condition assessments, and lead on-site trades and contractors to ensure top-quality project outcomes. What You Will Be Doing: • Estimating & Tenders: Produce high-quality tender documentation, quotations, trade packages, material lists, and construction schedules for building projects and maintenance contracts. • Operational Supervision: Oversee project delivery by managing office staff, field teams, and sub-contractors on-site, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to standard. • Building Assessments: Coordinate condition surveys across government properties, including taking samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials for laboratory testing. • Client & Tenancy Inspections: Conduct property inspections and tenancy maintenance referrals on behalf of Government Employee Housing (GEH). • Business Development: Promote company services through client forums and identify new business opportunities aligned with government programs. • Safety & Performance: Apply WHS Safety Management Systems and actively lead staff performance and conduct. What We Are Looking For Mandatory Requirements: • Valid Driver’s Licence (Manual/Automatic). • White Card (General Construction). Desirable Skills & Background: • A Trade Qualification (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, or General Building preferred). • Solid computer literacy and experience using estimating/project scheduling software. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage contractors and government clients effectively. • Sound knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety practices and hazard management (e.g., asbestos sampling protocols).
